Senator Brian A. Joyce is pleased to announce that the House and Senate Conference Committee’s Fiscal Year 2011 budget report includes support for the Randolph Parent Academy, with funding possibilities up to $200,000. The Randolph Parent Academy strives to provide parents with the education and resources necessary to be more fully engaged in their children’s education.
“I remain focused on the future of the Randolph School system,” said Senator Joyce. “We need to continue educating parents and the community to help them recognize that we are all stakeholders when it comes to public education.”
The Academy was created after the MA Department of Education designated Randolph an “underperforming district” in 2007. The Academy shares strategies with parents relative to key transitional moments in their child’s academic career, literacy, study skills, social development, culture, and college readiness.
Last fiscal year, Senator Joyce successfully secured $100,000 for the Parent Academy. The Conference Committee’s report now goes to Governor Patrick for his review.
