Joyce's day habilitation amendment adopted into Senate budget

BOSTON – Senator Brian A. Joyce’s Day Habilitation amendment was adopted into the Senate budget Thursday. This amendment adds $4 million to Day Habilitation programs for disabled adults and instructs Mass Health to advise the House & Senate 60 days prior to any need for additional funds to continue services.

“These programs are critical for the wellbeing of disabled adults by helping them remain independent members of their community,” said Senator Joyce. “Day Habilitation programs are a vital support network for families of disabled adults, and serve a much needed role in the Commonwealth.”

Twenty six other senators co-sponsor the amendment, which Senator Joyce filed last week, citing the importance of prioritizing adult day habilitation programs as they provide important and valuable services to some of the Commonwealth's most vulnerable citizens.
