Main Street Beautification

Construction along Main Street (Route 28) has expanded to Phase 3 in North Randolph. The streetscape work is a multiphase, multimillion-dollar project aimed at enhancing Randolph’s business corridor. Town Planner Michelle Tyler said the work will include new sidewalks, new trees and supporting plantings, pedestrian amenities such as a visible and audible countdown on the crossing signal, new traffic signals, and additional curbing and curb extensions. Construction is slated to last until October. The improvements are being funded by a $1.3 million MassWorks Infrastructure Grant. On Wednesday, Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray; state Senator Brian Joyce, a Milton Democrat; and other officials were on hand to break ground on the project. Despite ongoing construction along the downtown area, Tyler said the town’s Night Before the 4th Parade on Tuesday will still be held on its usual route. The parade will end at Memorial Parkway, which was recently beautified with new masonry, flowers, shrubs, and trees. Tyler said additional work will include landscaping, sidewalks, and trees on the high school side of the street.
