Afternoon Edition: Redistricting on the Way?

REDISTRICTING IS COMING: State Senator Brian Joyce (D-Milton) wanted to alert Stoughton residents regarding redistricting.

He writes, "Every ten years when the U.S. Census figures are released, Massachusetts goes through a redistricting process, where congressional and legislative boundaries are readjusted by a redistricting commission to reflect the most current census data.

"Redistricting is an important process in that it ensures that every citizen is adequately represented, and it allows congressional and legislative districts to adapt to changing populations.

"The Special Joint Committee on Redistricting will hold a public hearing on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 3pm in the State House’s Gardner Auditorium. Redistricting decisions may greatly impact your town."
