The Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency (MassHousing) has extended the period to comment on a proposed 40B Development plan on the Canton-Milton line, State Sen. Brian Joyce announced Monday.
The public now has until Sunday, June 9 to outline their concerns on the development, which is proposed for Brush Hill Road.
"This extension illustrates how complex this issue is and how important it is for the town to have adequate time to review the application and to fully weigh the potential environmental and historical impacts of the proposed development," Joyce said in a statement. "I'm thankful that MassHousing was willing to listen to the concerns raised by town officials and residents and have provided the time for al view points to be heard."
Joyce submitted a letter to the Canton Board of Selectmen Monday outlining his discussion with MassHousing and concerns he had regarding the project.
Among the concerns Joyce listed were the projects threat to the environment, endangered species and local habitats, including Fowl Meadow; the project's potential detrimental impact on public safety and how it could exacerbate traffic on overburdened roads; and the project's impact on the historic character of the area.
