Joyce Announces State Funding for Spring Street Elementary School

BOSTON – Senator Brian A. Joyce (D-Milton) spoke in favor of funding for a roof replacement at Spring Street Elementary School in West Bridgewater before the Massachusetts School Building Authority Board of Directors on Wednesday, January 27. The MSBA Board ultimately approved $673,667 towards the project, which will cost approximately $1,278,549 total.

“I’m glad the MSBA has approved funding to cover 52% of these important repairs for the Spring Street Elementary School,” said Joyce. “It’s essential that our schools remain structurally sound, and these repairs will ensure the safety of our students.”

The roof repairs will be completed under the MSBA’s accelerated repair program, which funds energy-efficient and cost-saving upgrades resulting in direct operational savings for school districts.

In September 2015, West Bridgewater Middle-Senior High School, which was completed with $29.4 million in MSBA funding, was opened. The new, state-of-the-art school replaced the 64 year-old former building and added 40,000 square feet, including a new gym, a digital music lab, a spacious new auditorium with balcony seating, and a complete tv/film studio with an editing suite, which will be shared with WBCAT – the town’s local cable access station.
