SENATOR JOYCE ANNOUNCES LOW COST PRESCRIPTION DRUG PROGRAM FOR VETERANS

Senator Brian A. Joyce and Veterans Services Commissioner Tom Kelley recently announced that veterans are now eligible for a subsidized prescription drug program.

Under the plan, eligible veterans will pay only $2 per prescription for a 30-day supply.

Veterans do not need to have a service-related disability, nor is there an economic test to qualify. Veterans who are eligible must enroll in the V.A. Health Care system and see a V.A. doctor to verify the need for the prescription. There is a minimal charge for the visit to the V.A. doctor which is usually covered by the veterans own health insurance.

To find out more about V.A. health care benefits, veterans are advised to call the V.A. toll free at 1-877-222-8387.
